Rajasthan is not just a destination — it is a sensory overload in the best possible sense. Pink cities and blue cities, golden deserts and mirror-tiled palaces, camel safaris and royal banquet halls. Ten days is enough to see it properly if you choose your stops carefully.
Day 1–3: Jaipur — The Pink City
Jaipur is the most accessible entry point — it has a major international airport and connections from most Indian hubs. The city's nickname comes from the terracotta-pink paint of the old walled city, ordered by the Maharaja in 1876 to welcome the Prince of Wales. The City Palace complex, Amber Fort (arrive at sunrise), and the Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory are unmissable. Stay inside the old city if you can — the rooftop views at dawn are extraordinary.
Day 4–5: Jodhpur — The Blue City
Three hours from Jaipur by road, Jodhpur announces itself with the monumental Mehrangarh Fort — arguably the most impressive fort in all of India — rising 125 metres above the blue-painted old city below. The blue colour was traditionally associated with Brahmin households but has since spread across the city. Walk the lanes of the old bazaar at dusk when the light turns the sandstone gold.
Day 6–8: Jaisalmer — The Golden City
Jaisalmer rises from the Thar Desert like a mirage — a living, inhabited medieval fortress city built entirely from golden sandstone. The havelis (merchant mansions) inside the fort are covered in intricate carvings; the city still functions as a living community, not a museum. Drive out into the dunes for a camel safari and sleep in a luxury tented camp under a sky undimmed by light pollution.

Day 9–10: Udaipur — The City of Lakes

Take a sunset boat ride on the lake, visit the City Palace museum, and dine on a rooftop above the water at dusk.
